The three pieces, in detail
The quilt is the large top layer. It has a brushed microfibre face carrying the printed design and a light polyester fill quilted through it. That fill is the part people most often misread when shopping: because the quilt is filled, it works on its own. A duvet cover is an empty shell that needs an insert bought separately. This is not that.
The two pillow shams are printed to continue the same artwork, so the pattern reads across the top of the bed rather than stopping at the pillow line. Shams are covers — they slip over pillows you already own. Pillow inserts are not included, and no bedding set in this catalogue includes them.

What a three-piece set does not include
No fitted sheet, no flat sheet, no pillow inserts. The shams are covers — they need pillows you already own, standard size. This is the single most common surprise, and it is worth knowing before the parcel arrives rather than after.
It also means a set is not a complete bed on its own. If you are furnishing a spare room from nothing, you need sheets and pillows as well. If you are replacing a tired quilt on a bed that already works, three pieces is exactly the right amount.
How it behaves after the first wash
A printed quilted set softens noticeably after one wash and then stays where it lands. The stitching pulls in very slightly — a centimetre or two across a Queen — which is normal and is why the measurements on the product page are taken before washing.
The print itself does not move. What dulls a print is heat, not washing, so a set washed weekly and dried cool will outlast one washed rarely and dried hot. There is a fuller version of that in the washing guide.
Two shams, and what if your bed takes three
A three-piece set gives two shams, which suits a Single, Twin or Queen exactly. A King bed usually takes three standard pillows across, or two Kings — so on a King the two shams cover the pair you sleep on and any third pillow is decorative and yours to match.
Most people solve this with a plain third pillow in a colour picked out of the quilt, placed at the back. It reads as intentional, and it is far easier than hunting for a matching third sham that does not exist. On a Single, the spare sham usually ends up on a chair or in the cupboard as a replacement for the one in the wash.
Weight, roughly
A quilted set is a mid-weight layer, not a winter duvet and not a summer sheet. In practice that means comfortable on its own from spring through autumn in most of the US, and a good top layer over a duvet or blanket in winter. People used to a heavy comforter sometimes expect more bulk than arrives; people coming from a flat coverlet find it more substantial. Neither is a fault in the set — it is a category, and the category is deliberately the one that works across three seasons rather than excelling in one.
